With the first month of spring, the LVM Kalsnava Arboretum has opened the doors of “School of Green Yard”, where learning goes hand in hand with the joy of playing surrounded with the richness of nature. The little nature explorers from “Pienenīte” became nature fortune seekers.
As March sets in, confusion started in the LVM Kalsnava Arboretum, which turned everything upside down and left us puzzled – has the spring come or winter is continuing its march of victory? Little nature explorers, by doing various tasks that have been prepared by the environmental guide of arboretum, went to clear up this matter!
The naughty “confusion” was searched between the large and small varieties of spruces. Little explorers touched, smelled and marvelled at the spruces, but from some spruces they received a rather sharp notice. One of the little explorers called out, “It looks like spruce doesn’t want to wake up from winter sleep yet!”
Little explorers did not get confused when they got to the tree labyrinth of LVM Kalsnava Arboretum, but they courageously went in. After accurately investigating each corner of the labyrinth they finally found the cause of the “confusion”.
The LVM Kalsnava Arboretum is open for nature explorers and school groups no matter the time of a year or weather conditions. “The “School of Green Yard” is a place where to learn nature’s secrets and get inspiration for classes outside classrooms – in school yards or in the nearest parks. The “School of Green Yard” is a possibility to get to know forest management, bioeconomics and other questions regarding environment by using various types of education methods. We offer an appropriate class for each age group,” explains Sandija Andžāne, the manager of Information Centre of LVM Kalsnava Arboretum.
