On a spring-like Saturday, on 18 March, the LVM Pokaiņi Forest had gathered guest for the spring equinox celebration. In the fireplace room of Information centre, the sonorous voices of “Baltās dūjas” invited more and more visitors to join the singing of Latvian folksongs, thus preparing for a lovely celebration of spring equinox. The White Wind (Jānis Ieviņš), Peter Stephan and other practitioners of ancient traditions allowed everyone to sort their thoughts and surrender to the wonderful vibrations of music. The event continued in the LVM Pokaiņi Forest trails, where Ilona with the sounds of drums and songs honoured the huge oak of Pokaiņi and the Goblet of Strength. The forest trails led guest to the ziggurat, where the vibrations of drums, the Fire ritual could begin. Here everyone could give sacrifices to the fire, find answers to their questions and observe the unusual signs of nature. Thus, making a mental direction of the next year’s path, and also enjoying a beautiful, friendly and heart-warming atmosphere.

After the precious walk, guests were awaited with the tasty Pokaiņi porridge and the special herbal tea that Ilona and Imants prepared on an open fire. Also the traditional activities with coloured Easter eggs, swinging, dances and fun were not forgotten. The fireplace room of Information centre also gathered guest, where doula Dita led an aroma therapy and the calming swinging in rebozo shawls. There, also creative workshops with yarns and other natural materials took place, by creating the symbols of spring equinox - little suns. All guests of spring equinox event of LVM Pokaiņi Forest were able to select what they needed, wanted and what was necessary, and also to learn something new, find answers to some questions and spend a productive time on a sunny weekend.
