The second season of “Release the Mother!” contest has been opened with the first application that came from the Gulbju Lake, which is managed by the JSC “Latvijas valsts meži”. The catch-and-release supporter, Juris Bārtulis from Talsi, in 9 May has tricked a 75 centimetres long pike using a jerk lure. With this application Juris has reached“silver” Honorary Fisherman's level.
In the day of angling the sky was clouded, but peaceful. Altogether, on the lucky day he caught three more pikes that were also carefully released. Juris thinks that the real activity of pikes will be when waters will warm up.
Wishing you to catch a “mother” above a metre, we remind that this season all applications will be evaluated in a united competition – from all four of LVM lakes.
This year LVM continues to invite carnivorous fish angling enthusiasts to test their skills in a contest “Release the Mother!”, using the principle of catch-and-release, thus ensuring inexhaustible and even increasing fish resources in water reservoirs. The luckiest anglers have a chance to receive the Honorary Fisherman’s badge and also to compete for the best result of the month or even of the season.
