Mammadaba invites to reach upwards to the Sun

mammadaba pavasaris

In spite of the freezing cold we already have spring in our hearts – with murmuring brooklets, babbling rivers and first green buds, the new mammadaba journal “Upward to the Sun” has been released.

The fans of active recreation will enjoy a walk in the Ragakāpa Nature Trail, which is suitable both for adults and children. Even though it is a bit too early for the first swim, the freshness of sea can be enjoyed also in this recreation place surrounded by pines – some of the pines growing here are even 260 years old!

We also recommend you to visit one of countless springs of Latvia. For a good reason, the ancestor wisdoms hidden in folksongs and sayings tell that young women should wash their face in spring water so that they grow up beautiful. If you want to check the healing properties of nature then visit, for example, Ellīte Sulphurous Spring. It stands out from the others with its sulphurous water with little mineral content that is very rare elsewhere – local people have used it for its healing properties for ages.

The breeze of spring can be felt also in the LVM Nature Park in Tērvete, which has become one of the favourite places of recreation for thousands of tourists. The construction of the new districts of dwarf town Čiekure have begun and are continuing to bring joy to the little visitors of the park, but the Carpenters’ and Weavers’ Districts and the Canteen House have already opened their doors to visitors.

With the warm weather approaching, definitely plan a visit to the Gauja Raftsmen Festival, which annually takes place in Strenči – the international city of raftsmen. Strenči got this title already in year 2011, but now the craft of Gauja raftsman is included also in the UNESCO list of intangible cultural heritage.

Get inspired for good works in the story about Uģis Bergmanis, the senior environmental expert of LVM. In Latvia Uģis is well known for his unceasing enthusiasm about researching the life of lesser spotted eagles for several decades. In year 2014 he realized his project about the rehabilitation station of wild birds, which has already had northern goshawk and owl, and white-tailed and lesser spotted eagle “visitors”.

Hike on the wooden foot-walk along the sea, scoop handfuls of health in some spring, observe the first returning birds, work in your garden or go on an unforgettable adventure – decide, plan and enjoy!
