When summer bloom is already over, but winter calm has not come yet, it is time to immerse into the carousel of colours together with the new Mammadaba journal, to get to know the richness that Latvian autumn provides.

At work day evenings and on weekends, when many of us are longing to get away from crowds, we invite to dress appropriately, wear comfortable shoes and go to the Tīrumnieki Swamp Trail. It is made of wooden footpaths, with total length of 800 metres, and during a walk you will see not only a landscape of a swamp, but also the clear and clean waters of Tīrumnieks Lake.

If you want to combine recreation in nature with educational activities then go to the LVM Kalsnava Arboretum, where everyone has a chance to participate in the “School of Green Yard”. It is created in the framework of LVM environmental education programme “Learning about Forests” and is intended for different school age children, but adults also participate in it with great enthusiasm. However, if you want to have a more lively autumn, then go to the Witches’ Broom Ball, which will take place in October – there will be a big bonfire that will scare away the autumnal cold, hot herbal teas and healthy drinks and also the joint soup making on a fire.

Go outside, but don't forget to take some basket with you. At the moment nature is the most generous – on every step there are bright rowanberry pearls, blushing cranberries, bitter sweet lingonberries and other goodies. But, if you need some inspiration for the making and preserving of these berries, in the journal you will find chef’s Arnis Ansosns advices to make delicious jellies and jams.

Also find a place in your basket for forest goods that are not edible. These natural materials can be used to bring the breath of forest also in your home.
