Surrounded by swampy woods lies the 372 acres wide Lielauces Lake. This lake is a good finding for fishermen as the fish reserve of the lake is being supplemented annually. Lielauces Lake is home to most indigenous fish species in Latvia and is one of the few places in Latvia where crayfishing is allowed.
The birdwatchers might have a good chance to spot the migrating Bean Goose or Whooper Swan and Great Crested Grebe that make their nests here.
Next to the lake lies the Lielauce castle, connected with wooden planks to the JSC “Latvijas valsts meži” boat station with 10 boats available for fishermen and tourists.
Placing any swimming objects in the Lielauce Lake without prior consent from JSC “Latvijas valsts meži”" is forbidden.
