Dear friends of nature!

On the one hand, the task of “Latvijas valsts mezi” is plain and simple – to manage the forests belonging to the state of Latvia. On the other hand, we would like to contribute by bringing people closer to nature. Hence, “Mammadaba” – Mother Nature - a structural unit of “Latvijas valsts meži”, which aims at acquainting local residents and foreign guests with the richness of nature here and helping everyone become one with its primeval beauty.

Your Mammadaba

If there is always someone waiting for you, ready to hear you out, bring peace to your mind, provide food and heal, then it is most likely your mother or nature, since she is a mother as well - to everyone, even our mothers. We – “Latvijas valsts meži” – like to call her - Mother Nature – two warm, heartfelt, up close and personal words.

As a true mother, she is always waiting for us. You can never visit her at the wrong time. It is always the right time – even in the middle of the night or during a thunderstorm. Mother Nature bathes us in her lakes, calms us in her forests, feeds with mushrooms and berries, heals with the scent of resin and brings joy to our hearts with bird songs. She forgives us for not being good. She is not angry if we have been away for a long time. She is a good mother. Mother Nature has created us all, letting us loose like children. She is waiting for us to return, alone or with children of our own. Mother Nature has much to tell us – about the things that we have forgotten or have never been aware of. How to find our roots? Where do we come from? Where do we go? Mother Nature has prepared a stash of miracles and wisdom. Pay a visit to your mother and you will return cleaner, wiser and happier. Welcome! The doors are open!
