With an unusual view of the world during the Day of Eccentrics at Tervete Nature Park
- Tuesday, 28 july 2015
How is it possible that a thing, which at the first glance seems obsolete, can turn into something unusual and beautiful? The answer was discovered by more than three thousand visitors of Tervete Nature Park during the Day of Eccentrics last weekend. Everyone had an opportunity to witness how seemingly obsolete items and objects underwent wonderful transformations.
Any item can be brought to life again – all it takes is a little bit of imagination and fantasy, and various items can reproduce new, unusual, and very interesting looks. Visitors of the Dwarf Homestead used their imagination and turned plastic bottles into new shapes, some of which looked like true art pieces. Artist Anda Kalnina presented the Dwarf Homestead's visitors with the artistic spirit of plastic bottles.
The way how rags are resurrected could be observed and studied by visiting Sikstulis' maidservant. The usual old clothes that we do not wear anymore are thrown out like unneeded and dispensable items. And still – if one uses creative thinking, it is possible to see how old strips of clothing are turned into a ball or tied into a mosquito net.
If Sila Witch once reminded us of wisdom about recycling our daily garbage, then the Princess spoke about how important it is to also recycle one's vocabulary. Latvian folk songs spoke about the importance of language for a reason: I entered the cornfield with a song; with a story – my house.
What an interesting and unusual Day of Eccentrics at Tervete Nature Park! Already the next weekend, everyone is invited to watch the regular theater play of this summer – "Ejam kopa pasaka!" (Let Us Get Into Summer Together!"), where various fairytale characters will be played by actors from Tervete Region's amateur theater "Trine", as well as Tervete's children and youth. The play takes place on the Open-Air Stage of the Park's Playground every Sunday at 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
