IT MEANS MOTHER NATURE.

AND IT’S TRUE.

Forest Wisdom Day at LVM Nature Park in Tērvete

Meza gudribu diena Mammadaba

As part of the World Teachers' Day, JSC "Latvijas valsts meži" (Latvia's State Forests) welcomes teaching teams to Forest Wisdom Day on October 2nd for inspiration and new ideas for outdoor classes at LVM Nature Park in Tervete. The company's environmental education specialists will share experience they acquired during the international program "Learning About Forests" (LEAF).

Teachers will be able to learn useful information about organizing classes in open-air, as well as put themselves in the role of a student and solve complicated tasks at four challenge checkpoints. Each of them will also offer information about exploration trips, environmental workshops, and other activities meant for schoolchildren at LVM Nature Park in Tērvete.

From 10:00 a.m., a creative workshop will be organized at the Dwarfs' Village called My Masterstroke at the Dwarfs' Workshop, where visitors will be able to get acquainted with and try-out first-hand instruments used by carpenters way back when, while at the same time making something out of wood themselves. Meanwhile, at the Green Camp, teachers will be able to test the knowledge of forest rangers in a special role-playing game, while those visiting the Fairytale Forest will be greeted with fun challenges and interesting facts about one of Latvia's most important treasures - the forest. Finally, communication project managers from JSC "Latvijas valsts meži" will gather at the park's viewing tower, where they will inform about the company's environmental education activities, as well as the international experience gained the past 10 years as part of the program "Learning About Forests". Furthermore, also on this day, teachers will be able to register their classes for the "Mammadaba Masterclass", so that they can participate in green activities all throughout the school year.

"We all have choices in life and we can chose to sit back and let others do the work but this is not the case for you teachers! If you think about it, if we all did just one good deed a day, when you start putting them all together it starts making a big difference and that is something to be very proud of! You are the difference," says Rachel Boyle, the International LEAF Director.

The number of schoolchildren open to wholesome relaxation and the wisdom of the forest LVM Nature Park in Tērvete, keeps growing every year. Last year in the "Learning About Forests" program were more than 10,000 schoolchildren from all over Latvia. They went on exploration trips, took part in environmental workshops, made bird-cages, and helped clean up the forest. The children also planted trees and supervised the park's territory.

JSC "Latvijas valsts meži" invites all teachers to gain inspiration in nature!
