Reconstruction of sculptures and trails in LVM Nature Park in Tērvete
- Wednesday, 09 december 2015

The "hot” tourism season has passed but activities at the more than 1200 ha territory of LVM Nature Park in Tērvete has not stopped, the improvement of infrastructure and reconstruction of open-air sculptures is in a full swing.
LVM Nature Park in Tērvete is remarkable with more than 100 wooden sculptures and statues of characters from fairytales of the famous Latvian writer Anna Brigadere, and many other characters of Latvian folklore. Every year JSC “Latvijas valsts meži" ensures that wooden sculptures of the park welcome visitors in their most beautiful form.
At the moment, at the Fairytale Forest the reconstruction of the Little Witch’s best friends – bats, spiders and owls – has been completed. New signs have been created for picnic areas, also for the Green Classroom, where children can learn new wits about forest all-year-round. On the way to the Dwarfs’ Forest, the renewed stand of Dwarfs’ Prayer catches everyone’s eye.
At the LVM Nature Park in Tērvete the surface of trails is regularly renewed so that the trails would be accessible for strollers and wheelchairs. By advancing the accessibility, the trail network and its surface has been improved in the Hornets’ Park, which is considered as the soul of the Nature Park. It has to be mentioned that the Dwarfs’ Forest is fully wheelchair accessible, but the Fairytale Forest – partially. All of this has been noticed by the organisation of people with disabilities and their friends “Apeirons”, by presenting to the LVM an award for improving the accessibility not only at the Nature Park in Tērvete, but also in other recreational objects, quays and other sites.
The number of visitors in LVM Nature Park in Tērvete increases every year. The number of visitors in 2014 was more than 116 00, however, in the 11 months of this year the landscaped forest was visited by more than 146 000 nature friends.
