IT MEANS MOTHER NATURE.

AND IT’S TRUE.

The story of pine Pinus sylvestris in LVM Nature Park in Tērvete

In sunny days the evergreen tone of spruces and pines stands out from the bright, yellowish green background of deciduous trees who have been woken up by the sudden heat wave. In the Dwarfs’ Cottage of LVM Nature Park in Tērvete, the clever and always busy dwarf family will share the stories of tree seeds. Dwarfs will share with interesting, educational and practical things – how to distinguish pine seeds from spruce seeds, how much care and effort is needed to grow a forest. Each of us can sow a forest and understand how the Latvian “green gold” grows and establishes.

In the month of May, dwarfs will share the secrets of nature's rhythm, they will reveal the secret of pine seed sowing and germination. They will explain various environmental conditions that have to be taken into account to grow a beautiful pine, and will give a chance to sow a little pine seed in a cradle of peat. Did you know that it takes three years for a seed to grow into a little pine seedling, which is ready to be planted in a forest? It is a heroic act of a little seed – to grow into a beautiful and tall pine tree! And maybe it is worth to give a name to the little pine, thus making it yours to cherish.

When listening to the dwarfs’ wisdoms, everyone who will be interested in sowing trees, will receive a present from Dwarf – seeds of pine Pinus sylvestris, and give a chance to sow their own forest. It's not easy but you can do it! Sow with love, care and persistence and take care of your forest to help it develop.

The LVM Nature Park in Tērvete invites to combine active recreation in nature with a possibility to gain wisdoms of forest. The LVM Nature Park in Tērvete has become an environmental education centre for schoolchildren by providing learning excursions and lessons.
