Year 2016 was rich in LVM Nature Park in Tērvete

The LVM Nature Park in Tērvete is the largest fairytale land in Northern Europe, where everyone can meet real fairytale characters, can visit any of 30 events throughout the year, can enjoy a stroll in picturesque pine forest and learn forest wisdoms in an educational programme “Learning about Forests”. In year 2016, the LVM Nature Park in Tērvete was visited by 145 thousand tourists. We are delighted that for the fourth year in one of the most favourite tourism destinations in Latvia the number of visitors has been over 100 thousand people.

The thematic environmental workshops, educational excursions and seasonal autumn and spring hikes that have been in the framework of environmental education programme “Learning about Forests” in 2016 was visited by almost seven thousand preschool and school children. Various environmental workshops, educational excursions and hikes have given knowledge about the habits of large and small forest animals and birds, about life in forest in all Latvian seasons, about the changing of seasons and about the diversity of forest and many other processes in nature and in forest.

But those big and small visitors of the LVM Nature Park in Tērvete who seek adventure went on a hike on a rope and cable trail 4 to 8 m above ground in the Skyways of the Lucky Land. This year, the courage and stamina in the small and big rope and cable trail was tested by more than 8 thousand visitors of the park.

The largest wooden view tower invited to touch clouds and to enjoy the view over the dark blanket of pine forest or over the plain of Zemgale. Every third visitor of the park climbed and enjoyed the view from the tower, but one in for visitors took the Fairytale Train through the zig-zag trails of the park.

In May of 2016, the Tērvete Butterfly House opened its doors and offered an educational recreation by getting to know the environment of tropical climate and the diversity of butterflies that lives there. During the season, the Tērvete Butterflies offered more than 15 different butterfly species. The new object that is filled with knowledge and rich in colours, in 2016 was much approved and the Butterfly House was visited by more than 9 thousand nature friends.

Considerable part of visitors of LVM Nature Park in Tērvete was guests from abroad - 40%. Major part – 62% – of foreign guests was from Lithuania. Nature Park was visited also by guests from more exotic countries – Thailand, Israel, Romania, United States of America and other.

The followers of Facebook page –Latvijas valsts mežu dabas parks Tērvetē – in 2016 has increased by 1386 people, who follows the newest information, scheduled events and share their posts. The total number of followers on the Facebook page at the moment is – 3681 followers.

The LVM Nature Park in Tērvete continues to grow and develop to bring joy to its guests and to promote to spend more time in nature, to observe, listen, learn and relax. The LVM Nature Park in Tērvete – a miraculous and active recreation for all ages!
