Pigman’s wooden sculpture to be opened in Tērvete

Zimejumu konkursa uzvaretajs

The most popular fighter for clean forests in Latvia – Pigman – whole summer has been very active in the LVM Nature Park in Tērvete. There, he has educated visitors of the park about clean environment and about its major goods – oxygen and wood. Pigman will end this summer in a special event – opening ceremony of Wooden Pigman's sculpture, which will take place in the end of August.

The design of the Pigman's sculpture was created by the eight-year-old Regnārs Rubuls from Jelgava, when he participated in the children’s drawing competition of Pigman's Wood Fan tour last year.

The opening ceremony of the new wooden sculpture in the LVM Nature Park in Tērvete will take place on the 20 August from 12 noon until 4PM.  During this event, nature friends will have a chance to participate in unravelling the mysteries of a dirty forest, play games with the Pigman, engage in wood transformation workshops with Tērvete's dwarfs and take part in other activities made especially for families. After the opening ceremony, visitors of the park will have a chance to see a theatre play “Velniņi” of the fairytale by Rūdolfs Blaumanis.

Pigman, as the frontman of JSC “Latvijas valsts meži”  social campaign "Don't Litter In The Forest!” is being active already since year 2005, with his example inspiring both children and adults to be responsible about nature and not leave litter in the nature. The long-term supporter of the campaign is the Latvian Environmental Protection Fund. More information www.cukmens.lv.
