Closing event of contest “Šodien laukos” organised by Latvian Rural Advisory and Training Centre (LLKC) took place in LVM Nature Park in Tērvete

Today, on October 22, the closing event of contest “Šodien laukos” (Today in countryside) organised by the Latvian Rural Advisory and Training Centre (LLKC) took place in the LVM Nature Park in Tērvete. From April until September contest’s 6 big questions about agriculture, fishery and forestry were announced, where 6-9th grade classes of individual participants at age 12-16 could prove their knowledge and activeness.
Participants of the contest during the closing event also took part in several LVM environmental education programme “Learning about Forest”, specially made, forest education stops together with environment specialist of LVM Nature Park in Tērvete and with the Pigman – guardian of clean forest. Children in practical tasks tested their knowledge about forest life – learnt different tree species and wood properties and the various use of wood, identified the rich families of animals and even built a wooden bridge.
159 active, creative and joyful children from all over Latvia participated in the closing event.
