IT MEANS MOTHER NATURE.

AND IT’S TRUE.

In autumn 1659 young and old forest friends have learned environmental education in LVM Nature Park in Tērvete

The Nature Park in Tērvete has become not only one of destinations for school excursions, but is developing also into a children and youth forest environment education centre.  In the new school year, during the autumnal excursions, almost 1359 children and teachers have studied in forest in the LVM environmental education programme “Learning about Forests”. Recreation in Nature Park, in the fun fairytale world with stories and adventures often was combined with educational excursion in the Green Classroom. Nature friends got to know forest ecosystem and forest management, performed different practical learning tasks about forest.

Several 6th grades from general education schools of Latvia learned nature science in forest in a form of adventure – in the LVM Forest Expedition! Almost 200 children in the LVM Nature Park in Tērvete learned forest knowledge in an educational hike in nature with 10 forest education stops in a guidance of experienced foresters. This educational hike has been created by JSC “Latvijas valsts meži” (LVM), the Interdisciplinary Center for Educational Innovation of the University of Latvia, the Latvian State Forest Research Institute "Silava" and JSC “Latvijas Finieris”. During the three hour hike children use the knowledge that they have gained in nature science and mathematics lessons, recognise and understand the effect of human on forest ecosystem, and also perform practical tasks.

Little nature friends got to know forest animals, their different lifestyles and special meaning in forest ecosystem.

On October 4, in an educational event inspired by the Teachers’ Day, preschool and elementary school teachers visited the LVM Nature Park in Tērvete.
