Vladislav Antishin from Riga registered a colossal catch last week, reeling in a 9.43 kg/92 cm carp from the Tērvete Reservoir, managed by JSC "Latvijas valsts meži"/”Latvian State Forests”.
With carps the sole objective, success smiled down the evening of May 23; at around 20.00, the fish was on the bait. A 10-minute battle ensued, and the carp finally succumbed. Lucky for it – a humane spirit prevailed, with friendly fisherman Vladislav following the routine of hook, reel in, weigh and measure, photograph, and then, release - back in the water.
Tērvete Reservoir surprises with a whopper only occasionally. But anglers have certainly enjoyed this season so far, what with the jumbo pike being pulled out. One can now say the same thing about carp.
JSC "Latvijas valsts meži" wishes you and yours a relaxing time in the fresh air!
