Just around the corner is the summer season, when youngsters will bid the classroom farewell for a while, heading for the great outdoors, seeking new adventure. The Mammadaba Masterclass (Mammadaba meistarklase) also holds its commencement exercises.
It may be hard to believe (time flies!) but 10 years have passed since the very first Masterclass. Therefore we are more than pleased that we have become highly regarded internationally. Along with the diplomas for the graduating students, there will be diplomas for the schools as well from the Foundation for Environmental Education, the FEE programme: Learning About Forests.
We are proud to say that almost 10,000 Latvian school pupils have studied in the nature; with 549 graduating this year from 133 schools. The Master diploma has been granted to 2,943 pupils, intermediate (Zeļļu diploms) - 1,190 and beginner (Mācekļu diploms) - 4,798.
The most diligent Masterclass teachers – those with the most bonus points – win the participation in 36 hours education courses–a summer camp. In the 2014/2015 school year these courses will be held on July 29 - 31 at the tourism and recreation centre „Ezernieki”. Each teacher is eligible to be part of the courses once every three years – (only) one teacher from each school.
6,743 pupils and teachers graduated last year, from 113 schools. Mammadaba Masterclass is a unique and versatile option for school to bring the learning process to natural surroundings. It is an opportunity to be a part of the Learning about Forests programme ("Izzini mežu"), via recreation in state forests. Any class can be a Mammadaba Masterclass and be eligible for green prizes!
The MOST active schools will become even more closely connected to LVM, having the honour of being a Mammadaba Embassy, a regional office if you will, with the Mammadaba flag raised high to the skies, and billowing for the entire school year.
