President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis visits LVM Nature Park in Tērvete

The LVM Nature Park in Tērvete, the forest that is full with stories and fairytales, on 13 December was visited by Raimonds Vējonis, the President of Latvia. The visit was in the framework of visit to Tērvete region.

The JSC “Latvia's State Forests” manages Nature Park in Tērvete since year 2000, and each year, in the world of fairytales and hike trails, creates something new and exciting for the visitors, developing not only recreational, but also environmental education possibilities in nature. President of Latvia got to know the story of Nature Park in Tērvete and its future development concept.

The Nature Park in Tērvete more that once has been named as the friendliest place in Latvia for families with children, and park is known not only for its wide variety of recreation possibilities, but also for its friendly price policy. Since year 2013, Nature Park in Tērvete is visited by more than 100 000 visitors each year. And, increases the number of those tourists that come to the park in special occasions, and in all four seasons.

An important environmental object has been created in the Nature Park in Tērvete for the convenience of visitors – a wooden bridge – laboratory. It is a common project of forest industry's scientists, companies, builders and producers. The wooden bridge – laboratory has been created with an aim to observe the operation process of the bridge and to popularize wooden constructions in Latvia. It not only does its infrastructure function, but also in the framework of monitoring programme gives data about the wooden construction operation rate in the Latvian climatic conditions.

Nature Park in Tērvete combines active recreation in nature with a possibility to get to know the environment around you. LVM Nature Park in Tērvete is developing into children and youth environmental education centre, in the framework of environmental education programme “Learning about Forests”, promotes students to learn in nature.

The LVM Nature Park in Tērvete continues to grow and develop to promote people of all ages to spend time in nature, selecting the recreational possibilities that are most suitable for you.
