For the third year JSC “Latvia’s State Forests” (LVM) organise drawing contest for schoolchildren “Forest Days 2017” to determine the best artist’s work, which will become a sticker of the Forest Days. Selecting only one best work was not easy this year, which is why judges have selected also two judges’ sympathy prizes. The winner of 2017 Forest Days’ sticker contest with a slogan “Learning about Forest!” is Agate Albekaite from Skrīveri Andrejs Upīts Secondary School’s 9th grade, but judges’ sympathy prizes goes to Diāna Ozoliņa from Bauska Primary School’s 2nd grade and Eduards Jaujenieks from Aknīste Secondary School’s 2nd grade. However, receivers of sympathy prizes will get special surprises from Mammadaba.

“The task for children was to create a sticker design for the LVM Forest Days. We received so many qualitative works that for the first time judges nominated also sympathy prizes. All three drawings selected will become stickers that will be given to participants of Forest Days,” says delegate of judges and LVM school coordinator Anda Sproģe.

The winner of year 2016 of Forest Days’ sticker contest was Dace Elizabete Miltiņa from the Rīga Avotu Elementary School’s 6th grade, but in 2015 – Lāsma Cirsiniece from Jersika Elementary School’s 4th grade. The stickers created by winners were received by all participants of Forest Days.

Each year LVM invites schools and other nature friends to participate in the annual Forest Days all over Latvia. This year students will be able to participate in educational “Forest Expedition” and to discover what, how and why is done in the forests managed by LVM, and also to find answers to many questions, for example, how long does a tree grow and what happens when it stops to grow.

Thank you all who participated in the contest!
