Sonorous, melodious and celebratory Summer solstice time has been celebrated at the LVM Pokaiņi Forest. The warm, summery weather gathered large number of visitors, celebrators, singers and musicians to the beautiful celebration. On the afternoon of the longest day of year, the free will group’s “Stiprās sievas” leader Igeta Gaiķe addressed guests at the Information Centre by telling about the traditions of the celebration and their meaning. The special guest – chairman of Dobele region council, Andrejs Spridzāns – gave speech to the celebrators of Summer solstice event. With the most beautiful Latvian folksongs everyone could enjoy the strengthening magic of nature not only by singing along, but also participating in fun games and old dances. A special atmosphere was created by the music of musicians from Ethnojoy group “Ogas” who used interesting instruments. In the continuation of celebration at the White Mountain the traditional, floral fire ritual took place where everyone had an opportunity to give a sacrifice to fire and to make a wish. Also we didn't forget about the traditional celebratory meal with real Latvian rye-bread and Midsummer cheese. The bright blooming, strengthening time has given us a chance to get nature’s energy, power and hardiness for the next period of solar cycle.

Already on the 14 July at 5 PM the Pokaiņi Forest will invite to the annual open-air concert “Between Heaven and Earth” together with the special programme of Igo Fomins and Ēriks Upenieks.
