On August 26 of 2018 Jaunmokas Palace will hold its annual Garden Festival, this time with a slogan “Bunch of flowers for Latvia”. All through the day until late evening there will be a chance to listen to performances of various musicians, watch Latvian films, get to know the art of flower arranging, enjoy nature and relax in the park of palace.
This year the Garden Festival will take place on the August 26 – time when the heat of summer is over, when we celebrate the end of summer and autumn flowers – dahlias, chrysanthemums, sunflowers, annual asters, gladiolus and many other flowers. That is why this year's festival will be adorned with flowers – flower exhibitions, compositions, flower arranging masterclasses with experienced floral experts Anita Stikāne and Krista Veinberga. Flowers in painting will delight you in the works of artists Anitra Bērziņa, Ildze Ose and Tukums Art Studio, but music will be performed by the duo fo Vita Multiņa and Elīna Konošonoka, and the acoustic performance of Ēriks Loks will make you linger in thoughts.
In the afternoon, you will be able to see for the first time or delve deeper into this year's famous film “Četri balti krekli” by Rolands Kalniņš, after the film you will be able to meet the director R. Kalniņš and cameraman Miks Zvirbulis for an hour long discussion session. Behind-the-scenes moments of the film making process through the prism of photography art will be shown in the exhibition of cameraman Modris Mednis.
All through the day there will be opportunity to participate in various creative workshops about and around the theme of flowers, buy beautiful or edible things, enjoy a horse cart rides or relax in the garden of palace.
Such event embraced with autumnal colour richness will be like a gorgeous bunch of flowers for the centenary of Latvia, and you will be able to entwine your flower as well. Remember that entrance fee during the events of the day part – a flower!!
In the evening part, in a concert you will be able to enjoy equally magnificent sound bouquet, which will be performed by the winners of National Choir Competition of 2018 – youth choir “Kamēr...” with their season's closing concert. The programme will include the brightest selection of Latvian and foreign composers’ works.
