Each year the LVM Tērvete Reservoir is supplementing its carp population. This year, at the end of April, 1000 kg of carps were released in the reservoir. The average weight of carps released in the reservoir – 1 kg.

Fish stocking in Tērvete Reservoir takes place in accordance to lake management plan. To supplement fish resources of the lake, the JSC “Latvijas valsts meži” has long term collaboration with the LLC “Zive” fish hatchery. “Tērvete Reservoir is very suitable home for carps, mainly, because of its rich food base and appropriate living conditions. Here is an abundance of food, which allows them to grow big and bring joy to fishermen with excellent size of catches,” says Kristaps Didže, Manager of Recreation of LVM.

Reservoir is proud with its outstanding carp catches. Several 10 kg heavy carps were caught last season. There have been other gratifying and surprising catches – 1.09 m long and 8.200 kg heavy pike and 8.0 kg heavy catfish. The appearance of a catfish in the LVM Tērvete Reservoir surprised both the lucky angler Rihards Rugājs as well as the supervisor of the lake. Mother Nature at the LVM Tērvete Reservoir surprises every year with some outstanding and unusual catches, nevertheless, the biggest treasure of the lake is carps.

The LVM Tērvete Reservoir opens doors for spring

Whereas, nature lovers will also enjoy beautiful, clean and peaceful environment of the reservoir, as well as the possibility to rent boats and cabin houses. We offer eleven boats, more than twenty piers have been built and they are placed evenly along the banks of the reservoir. This year several existing piers have been reconstructed and new piers have been built. The angling season at the LVM Tērvete Reservoir starts from May 1. The venturous, lucky and skilful fishermen – nature friends – welcome!
