Those participants of Mammadaba Open Angling Championship, who came to LVM Lake Lielauce to practise already on Friday, had a good training day, because fish were catching excellently, Taivis Dzenis with team member Agnis Tīfentāls (Fisher) from Tukums said that they hadn't seen such a good angling of pikes for a long time. Within few hours men had seven pikes in their boat, the smallest was fifty four centimetres long, but the largest one was above seventy, there were even more takes, but they managed to unhook. But men already had their suspicion that most probably on Saturday, the real game day, pikes will not have such great appetite. Either pikes heard their suspicion or their appetite was ruined by something else, but the points were very hard to get.

Despite the brisk wind that was rippling the surface of lake, it can be said that none of the favourite lures of inhabitants of LVM Lake Lielauce were working and experiments with lures and presentation of them had to be done. Even the local brothers Veidemaņi (Pils2), did not truly unlock the lake, although Artūrs managed to get the largest pike of competition (seventy four centimetres long) and received LVM encouragement prize, but it was not enough to hope for a place in the top three. The lowest step of the victory stand was taken by Agris Līdumnieks and Kaspars Grablovskis (Komanda), these men caught four pikes. One pike less, and the second place was taken by Matīss Rušs and Edgars Kukutis (Kubera), their pikes were a bit larger, and a perch was added to them, and valuable points were a bit more than for the third place winners.

But another surprise was provided by Mārtiņš Kampāns and Dmitrijs Kručinskis (DM Team), who showed that the third place in Kaņieris was not a coincidence, and with five pikes and three perches they stepped on the highest step of the victory stand in the Lielauce competition, taking a solid first place in the overall of championship, overtaking the closest followers by five points. It looks like that the further battle will be intense and interesting, a bad luck to one leader and a good luck to their followers can change everything completely.

Time will show if they will have creativity and will they take the correct decisions in difficult situations, there are four difficult competitions ahead, the closest being on June 8 at LVM Gulbju Lake. Then it will be the half way and Mammadaba Angling Championship competitions will return at the end of summer, at the end of August.
