n the Museum Night Latvian museums open their doors trying to surprise and educate visitors with special programmes. On the May 18, in the Liepāja Museum visitors were able to discover many new things about forest management cycle together with employees of LVM. Also LVM Jaunmokas Palace had prepared exciting and educational programme of the event.

“Liepāja Museum has invited us to participate in this event several times. This year, as well, after receiving invitation, without a doubt, we knew that we have to take part. This was a good opportunity to tell to the visitors of Museum Night about forest cultivation, to allow visitors determine the age of a tree on their own by counting annual rings, to identify tree species by wood block samples and corresponding seeds of tree species, to find forest animal families by pictures and symbols,” about event’s programme in the Liepāja Museum tells Nauris Krētainis and Jānis Vipulus, the employees of LVM South Kurzeme region.

Visitors were very interested in the opportunity to look at forest ground vegetation through magnifying glass – moss, lichen, needles, bark bits, etc. LVM employees had a lot of work to do all through the evening, because visitors, despite the rain and thunder, which occasionally “crossed” the city, were very interested and also expressed their will to learn more about the processes and natural laws of forest by going to the one of the largest forest industry events of the year “Forest Days of Latvia”, which will take place on May 24 and 25 at the LVM Nature Park in Tērvete.
