May is not just a month of fishing season’s opening, but also the month of bird nesting and hatching – the LVM Lake Kaņieris, LVM Lake Lielauce and LVM Tērvete Reservoir, Babīte Lake and other places have boating restrictions. The LVM Gulbju Lake has a special aura, many holiday-makers have verified that – clear, greenish colour and filled with water-plant hiding places. During the four years when “Release the Mother!” project takes place, this relatively small (approximately 1.15 km²) water reservoir has left impressive number of entries of beautiful large pike mothers that were caught and released.

The creative team of “Release the Mother!” visited recreation centre “Spāre” together with the supporters of contest, fishing gear traders – FishBon, Eholotes, SIA Ieroči and Golteenn. If anglers happen to catch four pikes abone 80 centimetres – day has been a success!

This year is already the 4th season of “Release the Mother!”.   The number of collaboration lakes has increased up to 12, the already existing partners LVM Lake Kaņieris, LVM Lake Lielauce and LVM Gulbju Lake ans LVM Tērvete Reservoir, Lake Alūksne, Lake Burtnieks, Lake Babīte’s “Vecupenieki” and Seda Ponds have been joined by Lake Engure's recreation centre “Pīlēni”, Lake Usma and “Bukdangas”, Lake Kāls and the small Lake Opsa in Latgale.
