To encourage parents to spend more time in activities with their children and giving them undivided attention, the “Centre Dardedze” and JSC “Latvijas valsts meži” invites families on 20 May to spend the whole day in nature without screens.
The “Whole day” is a challenge for families with children of any age, all members of family promise not to use any of screen devices for the whole day – no TV, no computers, no tablets, and phones are to be used only to make calls. By following the no-screen rule of the “Whole day”, this challenge helps families to strengthen mutual relationships and allows giving undivided attention which is sometimes lacking in our everyday life. For parents it is a chance to test themselves and also, possibly, to look at their children from a different side. Here are some recommendations for an exciting day:

As reported, the “Solid data” survey has concluded that 73.1% of children under the age of 3 years are using and watching screen devices, and they frequently spend 1 to 3 hours using screens. The screen device usage duration increases with the age of children and 18.6% of teenagers in their free time use screen devices for more than 5 hours a day. Meanwhile, experts remind that time spent by the screen devices is negatively influencing both children’s development and learning of substantial skills, but also the so very important communication with the relatives.
