In the morning of 26 August, while it was still dark, in the light of floating cabins of the Lake Lielauce, the Mammadaba Angling Championship's participants draw lots of catch sheet numbers and were rushing into the lake. Just like farmers, thinking, that every minute matters. And how it would not matter if the battle for two Raymarine Dragonfly 4 PRO fish finders that are provided by the main sponsor „eboat.lv” www.eboat.lv, and prizes from supporters of championship „Gold Fishing”, www.sargofish.eu, JSC „Dole Marine”, JSC „Salmo”, „Copes lietas” and the Latvia Angling Sport Federation is only for two more competitions.

The little clouds in the sky and the brisk morning wind gave hope that this day won’t be so sunny and the appetite of fish, in comparison to previous competitions, will have improved. Though the day turned out to be sunny, the participants of the competition were not complaining much about the appetite of fish, and even though no huge catches were caught, almost all teams got their fish. And a pleasant surprise was the battle between Rinalds Bērziņš and the largest catch of that day – the ninety centimetres long pike. He received a well deserved gift card from the LVM for the largest catch of the competition.

I don't know what kind of witch or wizard had spelled the fish-free-water in the way of Rinalds and Zigmārs Bērziņš, from team “Bērzi”, but catching the large fish gave some sort of gratification after the bad luck of the day. In the morning, when preparing the boat for competition, electromotor drowned, and it was not easy to get it out of the rather deep shore of the Lielauce Lake. When getting to the start line, Zigmārs stepped into a marsh and filled his boots. During competition they had an incident when wind blew a large amount of the line and the motor had his revenge and crafty reeled it in the propeller. After a moment, in a battle with a large pike, motor snatched the net of landing net and reeled it in also on the propeller, but pike got away. To hit the bad luck jackpot all they needed more was to capsize their boat, but that, thank God, did not happen, however, while going home with the fifth place in their pocket they almost ran out of fuel.

In the fourth place Aigars Līdumnieks and Kaspars Grablovskis from “Komanda”, in the third place the leaders of this championship – team “Labuči” with Jānis Labucis and Mārtiņš Labucis. In the second place, the second leaders, brothers Uldis and Artūrs Veidemanis from “Pils2”. But a perfect performance was shown by team “Čuš” with Māris Smilga and Aivars Smilga, who won the first place. What can we say – brothers rock!

The standings in the ranking of first two teams did not change much – only one point between “Pils2” and “Labuči”. In the last competition on the 2 September in Lake Kaņieris we will see who will have the strongest nerves and correct lures!
