Soon the beautiful Pokaiņi Forest will be taken over by winter, the attentive Mother Nature will cover trees in snow blankets and dress forest animals in fluffy winter coats. With the winter solstice coming closer we invite children to creative environmental workshops “Miraculous Christmas adventure in forest”, where they will be welcomed by the wise Mother Nature, creative Fox, gourmand Hare and Santa Claus. In the guidance of Mother Nature we will go into the trails of Pokaiņi Forest, drag the symbolic Yule log, and find secrets and surprises. We will prepare food for forest animals and will decorate a Christmas tree with colourful yarn. We will participate in games and activities, compete in cone long distance throwing, high jumping and other active lessons. We will observe and study nature in winter, the life of trees, birds and animals in forest. When a bit tired from all the fresh air and the wonderful walk, we will head back. The creative Fox of Pokaiņi Forest will meet us in the fireplace room of the modern, big windowed building of Pokaiņi Information Centre, where children will learn and make their own mumming mask. In the end we will go out to the cabin of Santa Claus, where children will have a surprise, whether it will be the huge bag of presents or the candy loving Hare who has been hiding – may that be a surprise! Just like other years, we won’t forget about the meeting with the Santa Claus, games, bonfire, tea of Pokaiņi Forest and gingerbread, picnic in the gazebo and grilling sausages on the bonfire.

Schedule of workshops: 11 – 22 December, at 11 AM and 1 PM. Prices of workshops: 5.00 EUR/children, 0.00 EUR/teacher, 2.00 EUR/parent.
