On the 28 March of 2018 from 10 AM in the LVM Kalsnava Arboretum, while anticipating arrival of spring, schoolchildren are invited to an event dedicated to the Bird Days. On this day we will learn, research and discuss about the biology of birds – diversity, anatomy, their meaning in nature, protection and influence of people.

Look! Everyone has an opportunity to:

register their class electronically and participate in an educational hike with work stations, which have tasks and activities in connection with birds;

learn interesting facts about birds in discussions with experts – Mārtiņš Kalniņš, environmental planning expert of LVM, and nature friend Māris Olte;

participate in an erudite, nominating 5 most witty classmates, others, with the talisman, will be rooting and cheering for their mates;

receive prizes – participants of the contest and the most creative homework authors, and also participants of the work stations of the hike will get prizes.

After the serious work and plentiful of new knowledge we will warm up by a bonfire and drink hot tea. Bring some snacks with you.

Attention! While getting ready for the event we invite children to participate in the bird drawing and photography contest. They, divided into age groups, will be evaluated by the arboretum’s and expert jurors. Rules and judging criteria.

Rules:

drawing with bird/birds in it and a short story about it – up to 200 characters;

photography that has captured a moment with bird/birds and a short story about it – up to 200 characters. Photography must be taken in nature in this time period;

Take into account! To make the event even more colourful, we have prepared a little homework: create talisman of the class according to the theme – everything about birds. With your talisman you can cheer for your classmates’ team in the “Bird Erudite”! The most creative ones will receive prizes!
