The LVM Pokaiņi Forest invites on 21 June at 7 PM to meet the Summer Solstice at the White Mountain until the sunset with songs, dances, games, finding summer flowers, Solstice bonfire and a meal. The free will group’s “Stiprās sievas” singing and Etnojoy group’s “Ogas” music will create a background for the fire ritual – we will adorn and sacrifice to the fire.

Summer Solstice is a celebration that Latvians celebrate for centuries. This strengthening and miraculous period in nature, when the bright blossoming, beautiful power is revealed, is encouraging us to get the best from it – from earth, air, fire and water. At the LVM Pokaiņi forest's White Mountain Summer Solstice will be celebrated sonorously together with “Stiprās sievas”, women that work in cultural institutions, are artists, public officials and simply music loving personalities. The “Stiprās sievas” have lead a Midsummer ritual for Latvians in Bonn, also here in Latvia – Gulbene ad Ādaži, have sung in exhibitions “Balttour”, have given concerts in Open-air Museum, have participated in the concert at Tiguļkalns, in festival “Zaļais stars”, in project “1836” and many other. The song “Sajāja bramaņi”, a work of “Stirpās sievas” and Raimonds Tiguls, has been included in the modern folk music selection “Sviests”.  However “Ogas” is a group with students of Ethnomusicology and Pedagogy faculty of the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, their repertoire consists of traditional folksongs, folkmusic, popular songs that are loved by people. Girls will play kokles, pipes, cimbalom, mandolin, accordion, violin, drums and also will sing and will involve everyone in the singing.
