On a snowy Sunday of January the LVM Kalsnava Arboretum for the first time invited to celebrate together the international Snow Day. Sports activities, drawing of creative art works, barefoot run and many other competitions – everything in snow!
As the Snow Day is spent in sports atmosphere then this weekend day began with a morning workout.
Both young and old were seriously prepared for the Snow Day, arriving to the event with various winter accessories. The smallest participants of the event were actively sledding down the hill, where the fastest and longest distance sledders were getting a medal.
If sleds have been forgotten at home, then there were many other activities to take part in. Use a snow shovel as a sled, show one's strength in snow shovelling, demonstrate skill in snow shoe race and in other activities.
Arboretum has its own scientific charm, that's why on the Snow Day it was possible to take part in different experiments with snow and cold. Did you know that it is possible to lift an ice cube with a string?
Snow is meant not only for frost and sports, but it is also a chance to express your creativity, as shown by the smallest participants, creating colourful art works in the snow.
Event was closed with the bravest visitors participating in the barefoot run in the snow! All through the day everyone could warm up next to the fire and enjoy a hot cup of tea.
