The LVM Tērvete Reservoir has been supplemented with 1300 kg of carp that in future will continue to bring joy to anglers. Whereas, nature lovers will also enjoy beautiful and clean environment of the reservoir, as well as boats and cabin houses.

To organise fish stocking in the lake, for three years the JSC “Latvia’s State Forests” is collaborating with fish hatchery “Zive”. “In such type of reservoir carp is not reproducing naturally, it needs artificial, specific conditions – shallower pond, higher water temperature. Today we supplemented the lake with three-years-old carps with average weight of 1 kilogram,” says Anatolijs, the manager of fish hatchery that is located near Tukums.

The LVM Tērvete Reservoir is proud with its mighty carp catches, for example, this summer a carp of 98 cm and 12.3 kg was caught and carefully released back, but another angler managed to make a personal record of a catch – 12.8 kg. The supervisor of the LVM lake says that the record carp of the reservoir has been even 17.7 kg.

“Tērvete Reservoir has very good conditions for fish of this species, mainly, due to the good nutrition base and to appropriate living conditions. Fish feel good here, they have space and food that allows them to grow big and bring joy to anglers, who not only enjoy the sizes of catches but also marvels at the beauty of lake and nature” says Kristaps Didže, manager of Park Department of “LVM Recreation and hunting”.

Fish stocking takes place according to the management plan of the lake. This autumn, the LVM Lake Lielauce was supplemented with 1000 pikes. “In autumn, lakes are supplemented with new fish stockings, so that they could manage to adjust and get used to the new living conditions. When water temperature will get lower, fish will also swim lower and will peacefully pass the winter” says Kristaps Didže.

Anglers have also caught perch of 1.5 kg and pikes weighing almost 10 kg in the LVM Tērvete Reservoir, however, the biggest treasure of reservoir are carps, whose stockings are regularly supplemented. We offer eleven boats, more than twenty docks have been constructed and they are placed evenly along the banks of the reservoir. There are 5 double, four person and 2 three person cabin houses with electricity, but for those who appreciate romance of summer evening dusk – a cabin without electricity is also available.
