The sunny weather of last week was perfect to go fishing – to one of lakes managed by the LVM. “Release the Mother!” team together with Māris Olte and other enthusiasts went to the LVM Tērvete Reservoir to enjoy the happiness from the large pikes that were caught and released, and also to gain new experience and get new conclusions.

The sunny day turned in to be rich in catches and with interesting conclusions. Here is a little sneak peak in how anglers searched for the most successful angling techniques and lures. “A better angler will release fish, because not all catches need to be put into boat. It is important that we learn and become better anglers and also more ethical, responsible. Angler always waits to meet his large fish – good luck,” experienced anglers are certain of that.

The LVM Tērvete Reservoir is a popular destination for fishermen because of the large pikes and carps.

“When you release a fish, you are able to catch better, because there is no anxiety about whether you will be able to get the fish into boat, but you enjoy the spirit of game,” about the initiative “Release the Mother!” says Māris Olte.

The campaign “Release the Mother!” was initiated this year by the JSC “Latvia’s State Forests” and will close with the beginning of winter, to continue with a new drive and new accomplishments in the next angling season. From the beginning of summer in the lakes managed by LVM – Lake Kaņieris, Tērvete Reservoir, Lake Lielauce, Gulbju Lake – each of the responsible nature friends was invited to “catch and release” the large fish, to ensure a favourable environment for the increase of fish resources, so that the responsible anglers could meet their large catches more often. This year more than 30 applications were submitted for the contest.
