In the Maundy Thursday (also known as Green Thursday), the LVM Kalsnava Arboretum was visited by far-away guests from Rēzekne region, they gained new knowledge in the School of Green Yard.
1st to 3rd grade children shared their knowledge about forest animals, recognised them and provided a lot of smart facts that surprised even the environmental education experts!
The curious children helped to restore the lost data. They measured and recorded the characteristics of the impressive trees of arboretum. The little scientists carried out an outstanding work and added a new data to the data collection, where some of the data was lost in the winter storms.
Following the signs, children got curious about the conifer labyrinth. Not using maps and not being familiar with the arboretum, but driven by curiosity, the new nature scientists followed their nose and without any struggles reached the labyrinth. At the labyrinth they had various tasks that had to be completed to get to the middle of the labyrinth.
When they completed the tasks, the new scientists of each class received a “seed capital”, which will have to be used in their school yard.
We wish you luck to embody the ideas you gained in the LVM Kalsnava Arboretum’s School of Green Yard in your own school yard.
