On the previous weekend at the LVM Nature Park in Tērvete the largest forest informative event in Baltic “Forest Days of Latvia” took place, where the professionals of industry informed visitors about efficient forest management, but businessmen invited to get acquainted with the advantages and the wide use of wooden products.
On the schools’ day – on Friday, May 24 – the “Forest Days of Latvia” was visited by 9 thousand schoolchildren from various educational institutions from all Latvia. Children were really interested in visiting forest educational stops, this year there were more than 80 of stops. Children were able to get to know the diverse industries connected to forestry – from seed samples to forest planting demonstrations until forest management and creation of functional products, such as garden furniture, wooden houses, windows, etc., also see their unusual designs and ideas. During the event children used the opportunity to also look into some of their future dream professions – forest owner, craftsman, arborist and forest machinery – harvester and forwarder – operator.
On the family day – on Saturday, May 25 – the “Forest Days of Latvia” was visited by 4.5 thousand people – families with children, grandpas and grandmas, professionals and other enthusiasts of forest industry! All through the day, until the evening, the interest about industry novelties from forest friends did not decrease, there were visitors both at the “closest” and “remote” stops. To visitors’ surprise, in the cover of smoke, the exposition Smart Wood was opened – a modern wooden construction technology exposition at the entrance of the nature park, that reveals 4 different wooden constructions that can be used also in the construction of a beautiful wooden house. The joy of the day – opening competition of the largest bicycle adventure park in Baltic – it earned an undivided attention from the youngest athletes and active recreation enthusiasts. More than 200 bicycle and balance bicycle riders participated in the opening competition of Tērvete bicycle park.
The “Forest Days of Latvia” was organised by JSC “Latvijas valsts meži” in collaboration with Tērvete region municipality, the Latvian Forest Owners' Association, the Latvian Wood Industry Federation and association “Zaļās mājas”.
The LVM Nature Park in Tērvete develops and changes year after year, last year the event “Forest Days of Latvia” was visited by 12 thousand people. The LVM Nature Park in Tērvete encourages keeping the spirit of discoverer, going into nature and getting inspiration for new works!
