Latvia can be proud not only with its forests, but also with waters that are beautiful and filled with great fish. For the fourth year the JSC “Latvijas valsts meži” (LVM) organises a campaign friendly to underwater inhabitants “Release the Mother!”, which, thinking about future's big catches and abundant fish resources, educate and invites to be responsible fishermen already today. Representatives of “Release the Mother!” also will participate in the “Forest Days of Latvia” on May 24 and 25 in Tērvete.

One of the most largest forest industry events will gather professionals and families, schoolchildren and seniors, to discover, learn, see and try, by participating in more than 80 educational stops that will be prepared by forest industry and environmental organisations.

Last year event was organised for the first time. “Release the Mother!” representative and curator – Matīss Ābiķis – also took part in it. Here are his memories and reflection shortly before “Forest Days of Latvia” of 2019:

“Forest Days of Latvia” is like a family reunion – all the heavyweights of family come together, then the new generation arrives – each has their own story and their questions. All year each of them has been working in their industry so that now they could show off their results, achievements and news with a view on future and to celebrate an entertaining get-together.

Forest and environmental industry altogether in 21st century is a time of re-evaluation of values, new opinions and development of technologies, thus, it is very important that the information, knowledge and ethical criteria standards would be delivered to the largest and most interested part of society. Thanks to the inspiring environment of LVM Nature Park in Tērvete, during the event it is easy to get into touch not only with visitors but also with other representatives of the industry, the participants of “Forest Days of Latvia”.

Participation in the event for the representatives of sustainable angling project “Release the Mother!” is not only a way to tell about the photo contest of trophy fish, which takes place every year from May 1 until November 30 in the LVM lakes – Kaņieris, Lielauce and Gulbju, also in Tērvete Reservoir, but also to establish the awareness of visitors about the thematic of fish and underwater with the help of games and tests.

In the 4th season “Release the Mother!”continue to spread all over Latvia – lakes of Burtnieks, Engure, Babīte, Alūksne, Opsa, Usma and Kāls, and also Seda Ponds – also offer the measurement troughs that were launched by the LVM project.

Representatives of “Release the Mother!” in the “Forest Days of Latvia” will continue the mission of entertainment and education with real angling stories and giving up-to-date answers to questions.
