In the LVM Lake Kaņieris on September 7 the Latvian Deaf Sports Federation (LSFN) held the spin fishing and casting competition of year 2019. In the sunny morning of competition 17 participants, including two brave women, arrived.

The participants of the sports competition were given a start at 7 AM for spin fishing from boats, competition took place for 7 hours. During the competition the catches were weighed, the points were calculated. Even though Lake Kaņieris is rich with various fish, here fishermen prefer to catch pike, tench, roach, crucian carp and perch, some of the participants did not catch anything, others were proud of many catches.

An excellent and the largest catch of competition was caught by Aleksandrs Romanovs – a 3900 grams heavy and 87 cm long pike. The excellent size pike was measured, weighed and released back into the LVM Lake Kaņieris. The whole process was documented, photographed and a video was taken.

The second part of the competition – casting in the park of boat house. Participants competed according to their level of mastery. The highest level in this discipline was presented by the experienced A. Romanovs. The overall results were calculated by summing up points in spin fishing and casting. In the result the first place went to A. Romanovs, second place to E. Kristapsons, and the third place to A. Piņkis.
