In the time, when nature begins its uncontrollable blooming and blossoming, the Jaunmokas Palace invites schoolchildren of Tukums district to the Nature Day. It will take place in the palace’s park on 29 April from 10 am – 3 pm. In these hours everyone will be able to go on a trail of control points to perfect one’s knowledge about nature, its processes, plants, folklore about nature, and also about how each of us can be responsible about our environment.
The Nature Day of Tukums distric in Jaunmokas is organised to promote environmental education to children, promoting an understanding that nature is not only something independent always next to us, but is forever changing, unique, observable and it needs to be preserved. It has so many surprises! That is why the motto of the event is “Look closer, think further!”. During this day the environmental education will take place in seven control points, where every participant is invited to take part, so that this day would bring new knowledge, skills and an interest to observe these processes in the future by themselves. How to plant a tree correctly? What is the taste of common cowslip? How do bugs with six feet walk? Why it is so important to dispose batteries in the battery recycling box? Who lives in old and not so old parks? – These will be only few of the questions to which participants of the Nature Day will get answers during the event.
The Nature Day invites to participate 4th – 7th grade students from schools of Tukums district, each team up to 20 participants. As the number of participants is limited it is obligatory to apply in advance!
The event is organised by the LVM Jaunmokas Palace in collaboration with JSC “Latvijas valsts meži”, association “Latvijas zaļā josta”, and forest owner association “Meža konsultants”. The Latvian 4-H participants will volunteer as assistants.
