The new school year turned out to be even more active for the Mammadaba Masterclass schools, organized by JSC "Latvijas valsts meži". As part of the international environmental education program Learning About Forest, 686 classes, hobby groups, kindergarten groups, and more than 12,000 students from all over Latvia applied for the event.
Participants will face three large tasks – conducting a "forest master class", preparing a "forest masterpiece", and experiencing of a "forest masterday" in nature. More about the program - http://www.mammadaba.lv/en/learning
Each class will receive by mail special "Masterpiece boards", where students will attach photos, record their achievements, and trace recent updates. Schools that did not manage to apply before September 20, are invited to take part and receive this special "Masterpiece board" at LVM office in Riga and regional offices in all of Latvia.
Like in previous years, this fall JSC "Latvian State Forests" together with LVMI "Silava" and MeKA invites most active teachers to the 12-hour adult education courses titled "Teachers' professional improvement in environmental education on sustainable forest management", thus increasing the society's understanding about forest management.
Like a flash, 10 years have passed since the first Mammadaba Master Class. This year, we are honored to be highly-appreciated on an international level. Apart from the Mammadaba Master Class diplomas, schools also received the Learning About Forest diplomas of the Foundation For Environmental Education – FEE for the achievements they posted last year.
We are glad pleased that almost 10,000 Latvian students came to classes in open-air. In 2014/2015, a total of 549 classes from 133 Latvian schools graduated the Mammadaba Master Class. 2,943 students became Master, 1,190 – Journeymen, and 4,798 – Apprentices.
Eight Latvian schools that did most of the master class assignments, and attracted the largest number of students and teachers in forest exploration activities, received the Mammadaba flag and were accredited as Mammadaba embassies on the first day of school.
The aim of Mammadaba Master Class is to promote the teachers and students' understanding about the multi-dimensional importance of the forest in our lives. Mammadaba Master Class is organized by JSC "Latvian State Forests" as part of the international environmental education program Learning About Forests. The main collaboration partner – the State Education Center.
